The core of the operations of RYM Oy are the research programs based on the research strategy decided by the shareholders, which the companies implement jointly over a 3-6 year time horizon.
The starting point of research programs are the future business needs of the companies and improvement of international competitiveness. They are grounded in the commitment of the actors and the future vision of the companies.
The programs are entities focusing on strategic spearhead expertise. They conduct open long-term strategic research.
Subjects of the first research programs:
Built Environment Process Re-Engineering (PRE)
Health Promoting and Productivity Raising Indoor Environments
Energizing Urban Ecosystems (EUE)
The programs are made up of themed work packages and related tasks.
Company-driven, open and sustained strategic research
Companies must play an active role in program preparation. Driver companies are selected for the preparation of each program. They devise the work packages and task plans in cooperation with research institutes. Companies interested in a program decide under guidance of the driver company the content, resources, participants and resourcing of each work package.
The research programs are open to all actors ready to participate in their implementation and funding. The participants form a research consortium as the program is being launched. Consortium members commit to the entire program (3-6 years) or for a shorter period. Joining the program consortium at a later stage requires the written approval of all participants.
